The Town of Dudley has recently completed their FY2018 revaluation as required by state law. The Massachusetts Department of Revenue has certified both real and personal property preliminary values. These values represent full and fair market value for the current fiscal year. These proposed values will be available for review by the public from September 25 through September 29, 2017 in the Town Hall at the Assessor’s Office, located at 71 West Main Street, during regular business hours, (Mon –Wed 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m., Thurs 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Thurs Evening 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., and Friday 8:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m.) as well as the Pearl L. Crawford Memorial Library, located at 40 Schofield Avenue (Mon & Thurs 10:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m., Tues, Wed, Friday 10:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., Sat, 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. The taxpayer may contact the Assessor’s Office during the public disclosure period to ask questions, review, discuss and request changes in the proposed values. The Town of Dudley shares in the profound loss felt throughout the Dudley Charlton Regional School District with the death of John Paire. The Planning Board is looking to fill a vacancy on the Board. Due to a resignation, a qualified candidate would be jointly appointed by the Planning Board and the Board of Selectmen with a term expiring June 11, 2018, the date of the town election.
The establishment of the Planning Board is authorized by MGL Chapter 41, Section 81A. The Planning Board is an elected position. The Board is responsible for reviewing proposed development projects and making decisions on them in accordance with state statues and local bylaws and regulations. The Planning Board is also charged with long-range planning for the community.
