The Town of Dudley will be converting to LED Streetlights this year. All of our existing lights, whether working or not, are due to be replaced by the end of the calendar year. We will no longer be repairing and replacing the existing streetlights effective March 1, 2018.
Currently our High Pressure Sodium (HPS) lights are not very energy efficient and tend to produce light that is not of high quality and casts an orange color. Light Emitting Diodes (LED) lights are extremely energy efficient, have a longer life span and produce a better color and quality of light. They are cooler with a white light under which it is easier to see true colors. The Town will be reducing energy consumption and maintenance costs associated with streetlights.
The Town will begin a streetlight audit with the completion date by June 1, 2018. This audit provides precise locations and characteristics of all existing streetlights. The audit is being followed by installation of new energy efficient LED cobra head streetlight fixtures.
